A case of brain paragonimiasis

Abstract

|
Brain Paragonimiasis is one of the important intracranial lesions of Korea. The case showed a positive intradermal skin test with relevant history of eating rare seefishes. About 10 years ago, he was diagnosed as paragonimiasis and was treated with Bithionol.
The diagnosis was aided by intradermai skin test and Brain CT scan. Plain skull X-ray showed. multiple round calcifications on the left parieto-occipital region. Brain CT scan demonstrated multiple conglomerated round calcifications in the same area.
Medical and surgical treatments were tried and marked improvement in clinical symptoms was noted in this case.
